Great Get Together Needs you

Now in its third year, ‘The Great Get Together Bankside’ is a brilliant, free, all-day street party in the heart of London run by Bankside Open Spaces Trust.

This year the event will take place on Sunday 23rd June with visitors taking to the streets to share food and drink, take part in races, bake offs and Bark-Offs, dance, sing and enjoy theatre and live music.

Part of a nationwide initiative, inspired by the late MP Jo Cox, the event invites all who live, work in, and visit Bankside to get together and celebrate all that we hold in common.

The Great Get Together Bankside is a free event for everyone. To help us cover the running costs, which are considerable, we welcome your help and financial support. Contact us about sponsorship opportunities or to make a difference with a donation, click below. Thank you

We are now recruiting volunteers to help us with the event.

Crucial to the event’s success is our team of friendly festival volunteers who help create an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Duties on the day are varied and include:

  • Welcoming visitors and handing out programmes, child safety bands etc.

  • Providing information and assistance to visitors

  • Supporting the security team

  • Traffic management

  • Collecting feedback from visitors

  • Liaising with the event team, stall holders and artists

  • Litter picking

  • Helping set up and take down the event (carrying and lifting, helping stall holders, site decoration, etc

We are also looking for volunteers who can help with the event set up on Saturday 22 June from 6pm-10pm.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Friendly and approachable.

  • Comfortable speaking to the public.

  • Honest and reliable.

Previous experience is not necessary.

All volunteers are required to:

  • Attend a Health & Safety induction session on Wednesday 19th June from 6.30pm-8pm at Redcross Garden, SE1.

  • Be able to commit to a specific time-slot/s (detailed on the Application Form).

  • Have a good level of spoken English.

  • Be aged 18 or over on the day of the event.

  • Have the right to volunteer in the UK.

  • Provide photo ID before volunteering i.e. driver’s license, passport etc.

Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and give back to the community, and all volunteers will be provided with refreshments during their shift.
